Aspen Meadows Announces Stellar Lineup for Uplifting Juneteenth Celebration

Aspen, Colorado Aspen Meadows Resort has announced the lineup for its popular and uplifting Juneteenth Celebration, which officially wraps up the weekend’s events surrounding the Food & Wine Classic in Aspen.

Designed to celebrate culinary diversity, excellence and the national Juneteenth holiday, the brunch-inspired event is sponsored by the award-winning Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey, which honors the world's first-known African American master distiller, Nearest Green. The celebration will feature the culinary talents of Chef and James Beard Foundation Book Award Winner JJ Johnson from FieldTrip in New York, NY; the highly regarded and St. Lucian-born Chef Shorne Benjamin from Fat Fowl in Brooklyn, NY; Chef Mawa McQueen from the Michelin Guide Recommended Mawa’s Kitchen in Aspen and Chef Rachel Saxton and Chef Sara Figueiredo from West End Social, the acclaimed new restaurant at Aspen Meadows. DJ Doughboy will return for a second year to spin the tunes. The event will also be supported by Equiano Rum, Sorel Hibiscus Liqueur, LS Cream Liqueur and Hella Cocktail Co. – all of which are minority owned.

Introduced for the first time in 2022 by Aspen Meadows’s hospitality partner, Salamander Collection, the event is personally hosted by Salamander Founder & CEO Sheila Johnson. This year’s event takes place on Sunday, June 16 from 1:30-4:30 p.m. It will feature panoramic views from West End Social’s expansive deck, the resort’s new Meadows Café and the Madeleine Albright Center. Tickets cost $85 per person, which includes taxes, fees and includes a donation to LIFT-UP, which helps feed the community from Parachute to Aspen. The event showcases Aspen Meadows’ striking new dining spaces, including the re-designed and re-concepted West End Social.
