QUESTION & ANSWER

What attracted you to this property?
The story of Mrs. Johnson attracted me to Salamander Middleburg. The resort's foundation made me feel inspired! Once I saw the property in person my mind was completely blown. From the service standards of absolute excellence to just the overall beauty of the resort. I did not want to leave.
When did you first know that you wanted to pursue a career in this field?
I knew that I wanted to pursue a career in hospitality management when I got my first job as a hostess at a pizza company. My sister who I also worked with always complained at home about having to go back to work, but I could not wait to go back. I truly enjoyed the environment of the restaurant and that is when I found that I had a true passion for service.
What makes you passionate about the hospitality industry?
Making people happy. The core of hospitality is serving others. Whether that is through serving food & beverage, planning a 50th anniversary for a couple, or booking a stay for someone, you are serving them in some way and making their life better. People look to the hospitality industry for rest, something fun, or an escape. It is our job to ensure that all their wishes are fulfilled so they can return to their day-to-day lives refreshed.

Having the opportunity to meet Patti Labelle as a banquet server by serving her and her crew before she performed at the venue I worked for at the time.

The "living room" because you can truly see so much. You have a beautiful view of the grand lawn, there is live music in the evening, and you can get service from Gold Cup.
